چکیده

Mobile computers a n d wireless networks are emerging technologies which will soon make ubiquitous computing a reality. I n the wireless environment, mobile clients may often be disconnected f rom stationary server machines or inay have only a low-bandwidth channel f o r sending messages to servers. This environment raises new challenges for the support of daiabase applications f o r three reasons: 1) the limited storage capacities of mobile machines, 2) the inabili ty to accurately predict the future data needs of many data-intensive applications, and 3) ihe need to provide clients with new or updated data values in order t o ensure consistent data access. One way (perhaps the only way) to address these challenges is t o provide the stationary server machines with a relatively highbandswidth channel over which to broadcast portions of the database. Wireless networks are but one cornpelling example of the inore general class o f asymmetric communication environments, which also includes CATV networks and information distribution services. We have proposed a mechanism called Broadcast Disks to provide database access in asymmetric cornmunication environments. B y appropriate organization of the broadcast program, an arbitrarily fine-grained memory hierarchy can be created. Such a hierarchy raises fundamental new issues f o r pre-fetching and client cache management. I n this short paper we present a brief overview of asymmetric environments, our novel approach t o organizing broadcast d i sks a n d some in i t ia l simulation results.

Design and Fabrication Process of CT number Linearity and Homogeneity Phantom CT Scan

Introduction: One of the most valuable goals of phantoms, replacing with human goals in the field of research and quality control of diagnostic X-ray systems. There are various algorithms and methods for obtaining Homogeneity and CT number linearity for CT scan device. One of the most famous of these methods, the method is to use a uniform and homogeneous environment to comput...

A simple model for accretion disks in the post-Newtonian approximation

p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; direction: ltr; line-height: 120%; text-align: left; }a:link { } In this paper, the evolution of accretion disks in the post-Newtonian limit has been investigated. These disks are formed around gravitational compact objects such as black holes, neutron stars, or white dwarfs. Although most analytical researches have been conducted in this context in the framework o...

Stress Intensity Factor of Radial Cracks for Rotating Disks and Cylinders using Average Stress Method

This article utilizes the average stress method to obtain the stress intensity factor of rotating solid and hollow disks/cylinders containing a radial crack‎. ‎It is assumed that the cracks are located radially at center‎, ‎internal or external radius of the geometry‎. ‎Results are shown for both of the plane stress and plane strain assumptions and are validated against the known data introduce...

Assessment of sorbent impregnated PUF disks (SIPs) for long-term sampling of legacy POPs.

Two field studies were conducted for one year using sorbent-impregnated polyurethane foam (SIP) disks for PCB and PBDE air sampling. SIP disks were introduced by Shoeib et al. (2008) as an alternative passive air sampling medium to the polyurethane foam (PUF) disk and have the advantage of a higher holding capacity for organic chemicals. The first study on SIP disks confirmed their application ...

MHD Flow and Heat Transfer Analysis of Micropolar Fluid through a Porous Medium between Two Stretchable Disks Using Quasi-Linearization Method

In this paper, a comprehensive numerical study is presented for studying the MHD flow and heat transfer characteristics of non-Newtonian micropolar fluid through a porous medium between two stretchable porous disks. The system of governing equations is converted into coupled nonlinear ordinary ones through a similarity transformation, which is then solved using Quasi-linearization ...

Unsteady MHD nonlinear radiative squeezing slip-flow of Casson fluid between parallel disks

Effect of nonlinear thermal radiation on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic slip flow of Casson fluid between parallel disks in the presence of thermophoresis and Brownian motion effects are investigated numerically. A similarity transformation is employed to reduce the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. Further, Runge-Kutta and Newton’s methods are ado...
